Washington, D.C. – Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) released the following statement regarding the news that President Donald J. Trump has issued a pardon for her Wyoming constituent, Troy Lake.
“I’m grateful that President Trump has pardoned Troy Lake, a Wyoming constituent who was the victim of a weaponized Biden Justice Department that targeted him simply for keeping diesel engines in school buses, ambulances, and fire trucks running in our tough western weather. I have visited Troy and his wife, Holly, at their home outside Cheyenne and heard firsthand how the Biden administration wrongfully imprisoned him for violating an EPA rule. This case is yet another example of how federal agencies have been weaponized by Democrat administrations against hardworking Americans. I’ll continue fighting to ensure this kind of government abuse never happens again. I’m thankful that Troy and his family can now put this injustice behind them and move forward—they deserve it.”
Background:
– Senator Lummis sent a letter to President Trump on September 30, 2025 requesting a pardon for Troy Lake.
– In early October, Senator Lummis welcomed Fox News to Wyoming to highlight Troy Lake’s case and discuss her legislation aimed at preventing this kind of government weaponization against other hardworking mechanics. Watch here.
– Senator Lummis introduced the “Diesel Truck Liberation Act” in October to put an end to the Obama-Biden EPA’s war on truck owners and mechanics. The bill was inspired by the Biden administration’s weaponized prosecution and imprisonment of Troy Lake.
